Finally got the Oregon 600 in the mail today! Slowly getting the hang of things. Just marked my first waypoint & am about to walk the dog. So stoked about this! I’m still hanging onto my Garmin 60cs, but I’m looking forward to being paperless as well as everything else this unit has to offer.

When you see a new cache an hour after it was published, but decide it’s probably already been found, and skip it. Then later in the night, you realize you would’ve been FTF because it wasn’t found until later that day.
Ha! :)

My very first CITO at Oak Mountain State Park (AL)! This one took place at Lunker Lake. The top shot is when we decided to head back, and the second is at the entrance to the trail around the edge of the lake. We made quite a haul today…lots of cans, bottles, and a LOT of tennis balls. What a way to celebrate Earth Day!

Decided to head out for an FTF on a nice local trail about an hour or so after some local caches got published. Took my caching canine Stella with me and headed out around 11:40pm. First one I passed up, couldn’t find. The second one though I found rather quickly! Opened up the L&L and found a nice clean log! FTF! Went back to the first cache…still no luck. So after a bit I DNF‘d it and headed home, which is where I now sit with my cat curled up in my lap. :) Sometimes it’s just too close to pass up no matter what the time is.

CaverScott, Salk and myself went on a great caching run in T-town (Tuscaloosa, AL) and ended up finding 89 caches which was a record for me. We hit some power trails, earth caches, cemetery’s with multis and mystery caches. At lunch we ate at Which Wich which is a pick what you want sub place that was quite good! There was a wall of the sub bags that were decorated/drawn on, so I figured I’d mark the occasion and make my own contribution. The only one I feel I messed up on was Salk’s (sorry Salk!). Anyway, another great day of caching out with the boys!
Many thanks to Caver Scott & Salk for the use of their photos!

Volvo on ice
Yet another geocache on an island. This time there wasn’t a doubt in my mind: the ice will hold.
Awesome! :)

Finished making my geotrackable.org geocoin and card today. All signed up and ready to release into the wild.
I made it using polymorph thermoplastic (awesome stuff), metal lettering stamps and a little tree pendent which I actually picked up the other day from a cache as swag.
Its not perfect but pleased with it. Check it out on geotrackable.org which is a free track able service.
Nice!
1,000 finds for AUTIGERMAN! event tonight hosted by Clay Pigeons. Had a great group last night that turned out to honor Phil for this achievement.

Had a great day on one of the busiest caching weekends of my life. Today I spent some time putting some final tweaks on one of two multis that I’ve placed @ Oak Mountain State Park. They published today shortly after I put the finishing touches on them. I took my caching buddy (my son) with me. We did some caching on the trails as well and he held up pretty good! Met up with a nice caching family & had a FTF party. I continued to tag along and scored a couple more Co-FTFs and even got to climb a tree!
